Alberta Snowmobile Safety Group

The Snowmobile Safety Group was established to address safety concerns with the sport of snowmobiling. Reasons for the group's formation included in particular, the increase in the number of snowmobile fatalities in 1996-97.

The group has developed a strong information and education program to inform the public on snowmobile safety issues. Letting the riding public know what's causing collisions and how responsible actions can reduce the risk of being injured or killed will hopefully improve the safety of the sport. The Alberta Snowmobile Safety Group is also looking at standards and enforcement related matters.

Safety Group members include the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Alberta Snowmobile Association, Alberta Centre for Injury Control and Research and Alberta Transportation.
