Pace has just received a message from Kip that there are a bunch of kids stuck at a very busy street. She and Lookout the Owl have to help them cross, and then walk with them to show them how to be safe pedestrians.
First, she tells them to
choose
lunge
shout
point
across the road and let the cars know they want to cross.
But, to make sure they don't cross to early and get hit by a car, Pace reminds them to
choose
delay
pause
flirt
until all the cars stop, and to make eye contact with drivers.
Then, they can
choose
jump
practice
proceed
positive
across the road with their arm extended.
During their walk, the group comes to an intersection where the "don't walk" hand is flashing. Pace says they should:
run as fast as they can across the street
give high fives to each other
stop at the corner and wait for the next light
sit down at the corner and cry
Which direction did Pace tell the kids to walk when they came to a street with no sidewalk?
choose
Facing traffic.
With their back to traffic.
Pace told the kids that when they want to cross the street they should try and cross at

Master

crosswalks, or at a corner.
One of Pace's most important instructions is that kids should
choose
always
never
run out from between parked cars or buses. Driveways and alleys are like roads, and you should make sure no cars are coming before you cross.
